MacD is a Melee smasher from Southern California who mains Peach who was formerly ranked 8th on the SoCal Melee Power Rankings and 48th on the 2017 SSBMRank. He is considered to be one of the best Peach mains in the United States, with wins against top players such as Mango, PPMD, Axe, SFAT, Plup, Westballz, Lucky, and MikeHaze. He is a frequent streamer on Twitch, and does overnight streams. The aim they had was to create a reliable, efficient and innovative Linux distribution with a similar to MAC OS desktop. But the real fact is that Pear Linux 8 is an Ubuntu remix with a simple but beautiful user interface (a customized GNOME 3) and out-of-the-box support for many popular multimedia codecs.

Hidden Options

At any time after starting a game, type $ to bring up a password dialog.

Incorrect passwords will be admonished by this crudely drawn face—a programmer self-portrait?

The correct password is SWCBuster, case sensitive. It will unlock four flags you can set:

  • Unchecking 'Bangable' will make you immune to collision damage, and unchecking 'Killable' will make you immune to any damage.
  • Checking 'Finger Of Death' will let you instantly kill a targeted enemy by typing S.
  • 'Picker Access' may refer to a level select, but there is no known way to make use of it.

F12 key[edit]

It's unclear to me what happens when you press F12. Do all of your accessories all pop up, or can you pick which one you want to use right now? In older terminology, you would build an application out of 'widgets', but here, widgets seem to be what you end up with at the end of the construction process. Is this usage accurate? -- Beland 01:47, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

when you press the key that activates dashboard, all of your currently open widgets pop up (see screenshot) and you also have the ability to press the + shaped button on the bottom left hand corner to change which widgets are open. Sorta hard to explain, but really, here. Consider each widget its separate little application. When you press F12 or whatever key that opens Dashboard, what comes up is a screen with all of the open widgets, with an option to open new ones and close the already open ones. That's sorta my best effort..don't know how to explain it better.

and widgets are their own little pseudo-application. its the end result of a bunch of javascript/css/html/objective-c or whatever else you use put together.

Mac

and also, isn't dashboard the name of another application for GNOME or something..the predecessor to Beagle search tool?

Applegoddess 1 July 2005 22:11 (UTC)

I've got a newly installed copy of Tiger and F12 absolutely does *not* pop up Dashboard. I have to press Fn + F12 to get it to pop up. Richard W.M. Jones 19:39, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

iBook G4 with a UK keyboard. Richard W.M. Jones 09:26, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
I can confirm this. I have an iBook G3 (US keyboard) and I have to press fn+F12 to bring up Dashboard. For this reason I have assigned F8 for this. - Thanks, Hoshie | 05:43, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Works on the intel imac. Two Dashboard projects

Applegoddess, yeah. The linux program Dashboard provides live-updated stuff related to what you are currently doing. In keeping with Wikipedia's NPoV, I think that it would be best to give neither the title Dashboard_(software). Perhaps this could become a disambiguation page, or redirect to Dashboard_(Mac_OS_X) (or whatever the appropriate title is).

It's not exactly fair to say Dashboard was the predeccessor to Beagle — Beagle sprang out of Dashboard, but it serves a different prupose and (iirc/afaik) Dashboard is still under active development. — Pandion auk 01:26, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Add another image?[edit]

I uploaded an image for use on the Calculator.app article. What about adding the image to this article, as a 'closer up' view of a widget?--BDWillTalkContribs 09:27, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Well, as no one responded, I went and added a picture of the Calculator widget.

Folklore Citation?[edit]

Sure, we've pointed out that they're Desk Accessories, but there's no clear connection between Desk Accessories and the current day Dashboard widgets mentioned anywhere in the article. As such, I don't feel it's a valid reference. Thoughts? [UNSIGNED]

I totally agree. It's been an ongoing debate, and there's no conclusive evidence that Dashboard is based on Desk Accessories. Kestrel 17:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

If there are no objections, I'm going to change the wording on the statement and remove the citation. Yonis 23:40, 26 July 2006 (PST)

'..Total Rip off..'?[edit]

Transarctica mac os. In the first paragraph, it ends with being 'a total rip off of Konfabulator'. Isn't that sentence a little immature (no offense on the person who wrote that sentence)? Try to change the phrase and give evidence on why that is so. Sr13 06:40, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Dashboard Icon.png[edit]

Image:Dashboard Icon.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:56, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Widgets on the Desktop?[edit]

Should the section Widgets on the desktop be removed? It seems to be more of a how-to than an encyclopedia section. Perhaps it would be best to discuss that software exists to allow this to happen, but not discuss the specifics.

I don't think it is encyclopedic or notable either. Since the vast majority of people who use dashboard are not going to do this, I don't think it should be brought up at all. 63.80.51.227 (talk) 04:46, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Dashboard Adding Widget.png[edit]

The image Image:Dashboard Adding Widget.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Title Disambiguation[edit]

I added a disambiguation tag to this article, but I really think it should be renamed. 'Dashboard (software)' is a category that encompases many products from many companies. The situation is as if 'Facial tissue' were a redirect to Kleenex! Ningauble (talk) 15:45, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I agree with this, I think it needs to be something like Dashboard (Macintosh Software). Many other software 'dashboards' exist, its quite a generic term. Jwoodger (talk) 06:04, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

All the content of this section was in 'Graphics' which is an obvious nonsense. Anyway, the content of the new section, in my opinion, is nonsensical per se, and deserves deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.65.236.40 (talk) 14:56, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Dashboard (Mac OS) → Dashboard (OS X) – OS X is the current, official and widely-known name for the operating system. Mac OS is inappropriate as it was never actually a part of Classic Mac OS. I'm suggesting a move for this and a couple of other OS X-only applications on the same principle. Blythwood (talk) 02:49, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
